EBED Spring Sim Pairs

The EBED Spring Sim Pairs took place last month, with 119 clubs, and over 2,000 pairs, taking part.

This followed on from the success of the EBED Autumn Sim Pairs, and saw nearly a 20% increase in the number of pairs competing when compared with the same days in the autumn event. Preliminary figures suggest the event will have raised around £10,000 for the English Bridge Education and Development, and the money will go to supporting the charity's work in promoting and developing bridge.

Congratulations to the winners of each heat who all scored over 70% - a very impressive result:

Tuesday 5th May David Patterson & Paula Hopkinson, 71.05%, Aylesbury Aces Bridge Club Commentary
Wednesday 6th May Rudi Falla & Daniel McIntosh, 74.14%, CICBA (Guernsey) Bridge Club Commentary
Thursday 7th May Jill Clay & Pat Wilkinson, 72.00%, Malmesbury Bridge Club Commentary

The most well attended heat was at Castle Morpeth Bridge Club, which attracted 40 pairs.

The commentaries, which were provided by Brian Senior, Paul Bowyer and John Williams, have now been enhanced by two two new features - user-submitted comments and a double-dummy hand player on every board page - which we hope add the enjoyment of the event.

Each heat winner, and each host club, will be entered in the EBU's Sim Pairs prize draw, for the chance to win up to £1000.

Thank you every participating player and club for their support of the event.
