Should bridge be considered a sport?

Ruling on a case brought by the English Bridge Union, a judge has decided today (15th October) that Sport England is not acting unlawfully by not recognising bridge as a sport.

This means that although bridge is recognised as a sport by a number of organisations - such as the UK Charity Comission, and the International Olympic Committee - Sport England will not recognise it as such.

Staff changes at EBED

Simon Barb has advised the Trustees of English Bridge Education & Development of his intention to leave the post of Education & Development Manager at the end of the year. His last day in the office will be 30 November 2015. Simon has decided that he needs to work nearer to home in light of the stage of education of his three children; this after an enjoyable eighteen months with the Charity.

We thank Simon for his contribution and enthusiasm. Sue Maxwell will be acting as the interim Education and Development Manager of EBED, during the period of hiring Simon's replacement.
