Residential camps with tuition, competitions, activities and social time for players aged 7–26.
EBED runs three residential bridge camps each year in spring, summer and autumn. Young players develop their game, grow in confidence and spend time with others who enjoy bridge. Family members can come along and take part too.
Autumn Camp

A characterful country-house camp, with Box Hill nearby and a Halloween flavour when dates allow.
Spring Camp
2–4 April 2027
Whitemoor Lakes, Staffordshire
A lakeside activity-centre camp, with outdoor adventures alongside high-adrenaline bridge.
Summer Camp
TBC Summer 2027
A Midlands camp, with football and pool alongside relaxed cardplay and competition.
Camps are organised around bridge, but they are also about confidence, friendship and time away together.
Learn at the right level
Players are grouped by age and experience, with teaching matched to their stage of development.
Play and compete
There is plenty of time to play, with friendly competitions and support from EBED staff and volunteers.

Camps include meals, accommodation and activities. Family members are welcome to come along too.

Tuition and competitions
Camp tuition is organised in staged groups, with players grouped by age, experience and confidence.
Newer players can build the basics in a supportive setting, while more experienced juniors can work on bidding, card play, partnership understanding and tournament skills.
Each camp includes a mix of lessons, supervised play and competitions. The programme usually includes duplicate bridge, speedballs, Swiss Pairs and team events.
Prices and bursaries
Camp places cost £150 per person, including two nights’ accommodation and full board.
A £20 per person early-bird discount is available for bookings made more than one month before camp.
Members of the England U21 or U26 Junior Squads may attend free of charge, although this does not apply to accompanying adults.
Bursaries may be available on request. Please contact EBED if cost may prevent a young person from attending.
Safeguarding
EBED takes safeguarding seriously. Staff and volunteers involved in camp are DBS-checked and receive safeguarding training.
Richard Croot, who organises and teaches at the event, is the Designated Safeguarding Officer for both the EBU and EBED.
Parents, grandparents and other family members are welcome to attend with younger players and take part in the camp programme.

Payment is taken at the point of booking. We understand that arrangements involving young people can change, so EBED aims to take a flexible approach to cancellations where possible.

Young player membership
Young players are encouraged to join the English Bridge Union if they are not already members.
Junior membership is free for players under 26 and can give access to reduced entry fees, national competitions and other bridge opportunities.
EBED can help point young players and families towards the right next steps after camp, including clubs, online play, competitions and youth training squads.
