Minibridge Award

The skills required to achieve this level are:

Deciding the contract

  • Count the points correctly
  • Know the correct suit order
  • Identify the trump suit, or no trumps, and say who is declarer or “boss”
  • Know how many tricks are needed for game or part-score
  • Identify a hand suitable for play in no trumps
  • Identify a hand suitable for play in a suit contract
  • Decide whether to call game or part-score in a suit

Playing the cards

  • Count the total number of winners
  • Knock out high cards to establish winners
  • Draw trumps in a suit contract
  • Use the point count to work out where outstanding cards are likely to lie
  • Take a finesse against an outstanding card

Playing and scoring

  • Take part in an in-class competition
  • Show respect for your partner
  • Work out and record the score
