English Bridge School - English Bridge Education & Development shortly to launch a NEW teaching and learning Website

Exciting news from EBED which will impact on how teachers and students will access learning material in the future. In response to EBTA teachers requesting high quality, up to date and flexible teaching material, EBED are launching a brand new learning portal called English Bridge School (EBS) which will allow access to a whole new suite of material to support on-line bridge teaching. All current material will still be available on the teacher zone and additionally the new material held on EBS will be available to all EBTA teachers who wish to access it.

In the first instance we will make available online teaching materials for beginners to enable teachers to deliver classes from September. Using Google’s G suite, we are building a new bridge resource library with lesson plans, presentations, videos, deal files and hand records. You will be also able to access a personalised classroom for students and create your own customised slides, handouts and quizzes. You will have access to email and shared calendars which will enable teachers to schedule lessons and communicate directly with students to share news, learning material or set homework.

We anticipate EBS will be available to teachers in early August, initially with lessons which will cover the first term of learning. We are working in the background to add additional lessons for a smooth transition into the second and third terms. The lesson structure is modular and compliments the BfA teaching method so can be used either alongside the EBED publications or as a stand-alone resource. As EBS evolves, teachers will also be able to create their own online courses in Google Classroom and will have access to a teacher sharing zone to offer resources and share materials. Additionally, there will be access to individual online storage via a personal and private storage space which will be held securely in the cloud. EBS will also hold a whole suite of resources such as videos, tutorials and direct links taking teachers and students straight to the most popular online bridge websites. Our aim is to create a “one stop” portal where everything a bridge teacher could possibly want is readily available and just a click away!

The website has been built to ensure it is user friendly and easy to use. Even if you have never taught online before, you will find everything straight forward. To make sure of this, EBED will also be providing full training to our teachers via Zoom. We will cover how to register, access the material and tailor the material and classrooms to your own requirements.

The great news is EBS will be available FREE of charge to all EBTA teachers. Once you have registered on the website as a teacher, your students will be able to gain access to the classrooms by paying a small monthly subscription. As always EBED will be here to support your bridge teaching in all the ways we have done in the past and we also invite you to share with us the innovations for the future.

Please look out for more news items as the site is launched and developed.
